After a hard fight, I’ve been outmaneuvered by precise shots, then hurt with hard punches smashing me to both the head and body. I put up a game fight, but it’s come down to the classic beating the shit out of someone in the corner as she covers up. But, with one eye punched closed, exhausted and battered, it’s only a matter of time until the fight is over—either with a knockout or the referee stopping it. And—this is to prove who’s tougher; the ref will be hesitant to stop the fight.

I can take a lot—most folk wouldn’t still be standing—but this flurry of punches will finish the fight. We’re both bloody—mostly with my blood—and the savage hook to the jaw is spraying more across the ring.

This is mainly an exercise in improving my artistic skills, but I thought people might enjoy it. I tried for effects both subtle and blatant, so whatever you see in the way of better techniques, please call out—let me know what you see different, for better or worse.

Incidentally, what should the brunette’s next punch be?

This pic captures a moment in the bout a turning point. And the energy of the action transcends the two dimensions its captured in. You can feel the breathing and the exertions of each combatant... The view of the action is "right in there" displaying the power, the pain!!
Excellent Selene! I believe you have a fantastic grasp of how to portray the heat of battle...I would say thru your own tasting and swapping of leather. Having been on booth ends of this equation gives you fantastic insight about bringing this image to the page. Well done Selene! Can't wait till the next picture springs forth

So is the gal in the black trunks the same gal from the 'Get up, I'm not done with you' pic?

If so, we need to see more of her :p

Perhaps a hard right up into the belly to get the redhead to drop her guard - a couple of those should open up access to the head, or even the boobs if she wants to extend the punishment a while longer.

Very nice work!

A right uppercut to the solarplexus, followed by a left hook to the jaw. The scene itself is very powerful; one can almost feel the pain you're experiencing as your strength and endurance is being sapped from the pounding by your opponent. You are battered, bruised, bloody and exhausted. Your legs are rubbery, your right eye is closed, and your guard is collapsing; hence the right/left combo mentioned earlier. Good night Red!
The image of two strong, powerful women boxers going full out to a decisive ending is well illustrated
here. The details of the ring and the combatants and even the blood spatter on both, show the intensity of the battle. Great work!

I agree with Drew; you've done a great job of texturing the gloves. I tried a few times to add seams and i didn't like the results at all. Overall, you've made great strides in your work; the blood effects, the battle damage, the set dressing are all well done. Keep up the good work!

Gawd! I love corner work! Talk about a dominating pic! Btw the next punch should be a right uppercut delivered just under the breast bone

well, they`re dressed as they should be . . . the ref should be able to see the bruising etc. He/she may say "STOP!" and push the predator away! but I agree that may not happen

Well, the two of them wanted the age old question of "Who's tougher?" to be settled decisively, with a knockout...

Selene, in real life I like your face very much. So in this battle it's taken enough punishment and let's end it without the risk of a broken nose or a semi-coma from more punches to the face and head. 'Steelydan1923' also thinks it should be a body shot to the 'Logo'. I think she's positioned to do it. If you have her step forward with her left foot, shove off with the planted right foot, and drive her body to the left and rotate her right hip to the left, then she will deliver a short right downward chopping right fist into the logo. Her legs will give way and she'll drop to her knees. Now here is the real horror of the result of the punch. She will be on the canvas with a classic AUFD pose (Which you can create next - Should be interesting the angle you use of her butt in the air), and she will be fully aware of her loss. There will not be enough control for her legs to stand and she'll have to listen to that countup to 10 and there is nothing she can do about it. Selene - End it. 'Nuff said on this. Drew.

Drew, this fight is over, with either this punch, or another couple of them, as I mentioned to Dan. (Or if I get caught in the ropes, she might hit me another couple of shots.

As for how I end up on the canvas, there's scads of ways I could land--but all painful, and all humiliating to wake up from. I got mauled badly--how I go down is more up to her than me.

But, crazy as I am, I'd take a rematch...

You are so good and getting better and better if that's possible ... Just from my strictly amateur viewpoint, the only thing that would make it more realistic -- and I know it has to be VERY hard to portray -- is fluids, blood and saliva, flying out more from the soon-to-be-victorious fighter's left hook. Love the rear view of the legs, an angle from directly behind that isn't seen much. In fact, I love the entire angle, a different point of view for the camera/artist/viewer. As for the next punch, since it appears that she's already worked under the ribs from the reddening, it's probably time for the brunette to slide her right foot outward, shift all her weight onto her right foot and slam a shot right on the beltline at the Everlast logo. It might not put you down, but it would probably drop your guard enough for her to hook a couple more times ... perhaps prolonging hr enjoyment of the moment? A GREAT JOB on this...

Adding a significan amount of sweat and blood flying is tough; I've tried it and had mixed results, if there's a lot of it. Hence, just a small amount of blood flying as her hook crashes into my exposed jaw.

She's worked my ribs, my face, punched my right eye shut. If that punch doesn't knock me out, then, thinking it through, digging that 8 ounces of leather and horsehair into the Everlast logo would be a good choice. Them, she can catch my jaw clean with another left, and lights out.

The viewer can't see it, but (with my one open eye) I can see a big smile on her--she's enjoying this.

As stubborn as I am, I'll be traning for a rematch!

First off, those gloves are great looking. I love the detail, especially the seam in the yellow ones. You set the high bar on authentic looking gloves. Moving on. Looks like I agree with the previous opinions - A body shot. However a solar plexus punch is tricky, it is a small area. Because of the way you have her positioned, I think that left hook to the face will keep those gloves up, so she should push off with her right foot with her whole body behind it and drive that right glove straight into the EVERLAST logo on the trunks. As both are clean fighters and will not hit below the belt, but the trunk's waistband is 'The Belt' and you can hit the belt and it is a fair punch. Therein comes the phrase 'Getting Belted'. There aren't that many strong lower stomach muscles to prevent that 8 ounce glove from digging deep into her femininty, in this case the upper portion of her womb, and the shock will stun her pelvis, hips, and thighs, and as such her legs will tremble, lose control and she will drop to her knees. Fight over. By the way this is a classic 'Cornered Pose' and as such I'd like your permission to include it in my DA Group Site and use it as a superb example in my 'Classic Punches And Poses' section. Drew.

There's other things I've been working on besides the gloves, trying to improve the overall impression of sheer mayhem--I'm glad the look of the gloves is improving. I have a subtle texture on them, too so they aren't just a solid mass of color. (Though from my perspective in the corner, they ARE a solid mass of pain.)

Nailing me right on the beltline might be tough--the brunette is in a fairly "tall" stance and she'd have to reset to get a clean shot right at the beltline. She is, however, positioned nicely for an uppercut to the mid-body or higher, possibly some other things.

You can include this one in your "Classic Punches and Poses." For a multitude of reasons that I won't gt into, I've become a definate minimalist when it comes to letting people repost, but in this case--sure!

I'm glad you like this :)

I'll try to take her out next time. I did a lot of blocking--mostly with my face and stomach--I don't think that's the right way to do it..

Thanks for the comment :)

That midsection looks nice and open; or a solar plexus shot would close the show pretty quickly.

The solar plexus is a nice target--but not the easiest one to hit. But--why not go for it--it could end the fight in a decisive, painful, and humiliating manner. And even if the punch doesn't land perfectly, it's a good hard shot that will add to the damage I've already taken.
